Manners Level 1: Building Better Behaviours

Got a pup over 6 months who’s still learning the ropes? Whether you’ve just adopted a new family member or your dog needs a manners refresher, this class is the perfect starting point!

Learn how to teach your dog in a way they actually understand, and enjoy! Using science-based, positive reinforcement, Scarlett will show you how to turn training into a fun, rewarding experience for both ends of the leash.

You’ll discover how (and when!) to use hand signals and verbal cues, stop repeating “sit, sit, sit,” and help your dog start offering good behaviours automatically.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Class 1: Stationing, Focus & Touch
Class 2: Sit, Down & Stay
Class 3: Recall, Leave It & Loose Leash Walking
Class 4: Polite Greetings, Wait at the Gate & Play and Pause

🐾 No prerequisites — open to dogs over six months of age (if your dog is under 6 months, take a look at Puppy Group Classes!)

Manners Level 2: Confidence and Impulse Control

Take skills you learned in Manners Level 1 and add skills for interactions with other people such as friendly greetings, in your home or in public.

Learn how to keep your dog focused on you and not jump when others pet your dog.

Help your dog be more comfortable walking past other people and dogs, and add more than one element together like "leave-it" while loose leash walking.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Class 1: How to prevent your dog from jumping on a stranger, helping your dog have a positive association with new equipment or grooming tools, and a mini game to help your dog decompress.

Class 2: Polite greetings of guests in your home, desensitizing your dog to being brushed or combed, and a mini game to help your dog stay engaged with you around distractions.

Class 3: Sit, Down & Stay and recall on leash, with distractions. Learn how to keep your dog calm when a stranger asks to pet them. Learn a mini game to help your dog disengage and move away from distractions.

Class 4: Practice your dog's 'leave-it' while on the move, teach a chin rest behaviour, and a mini game to build confidence and proprioception.

If you have taken either Puppy Class with Kyla or Manners Level 1 with Scarlett, you are ready for Manners Level 2!

*This is not the right class for your dog if they are dog reactive. We're happy to work with you and your dog in private sessions until your dog is more comfortable in the presence of other dogs before joining group sessions.

Manners Level 3: Navigating Dog-Friendly Public Spaces

Ready to take your training beyond the training centre? Manners Level 3 is designed to prepare you and your dog for real-life adventures, from walking through a busy pet store to waiting calmly at the vet or groomer.

This class builds on foundational skills from Manners Level 1 and 2 and helps your dog learn how to stay focused, polite, and confident in everyday situations. It’s also the perfect prep for the 12 steps of the Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) Test! While the official test isn’t part of the class, you’ll be prepared if you choose to take it later.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

Class 1: Greeting a Friendly Stranger, Accepting Petting, Handling & Grooming, Praise and Interaction
Class 2: Out for a Walk, Navigating a Crowd, Reaction to Distractions, Doorway Manners
Class 3: Sit, Down & Stay on Long Line, Recall from 3 Metres, Supervised Isolation, Passing Another Dog and Handler Politely
Class 4: Putting It All Together — Practice all of the skills the way they would be on the CGN test.
